Not everyone is able to feel love when faced with a stray feral cat, and that’s exactly why Gotham City Kitties, Inc. exists. A grassroots 501(c)(3) non profit organization, we are dedicated to the rescue, fostering and permanent placement of stray cats and kittens in the greater New York City area. Created and headed by Elizabeth Newsom, Gotham City Kitties currently manages seven feral cat colonies in Brooklyn, feeding and caring for over 100 stray cats on a daily basis. The organization also actively works with isolated trap-neuter-return (T-N-R) projects to help stem the overwhelming tide of stray cats that are dumped at local kill shelters–and where more than 60% will be killed simply for a lack of homes or lack of socialization.

Gotham City Kitties is a 100% volunteer organization. When adoption fees do not cover medical or other bills, the costs are paid by the organization, usually with money directly from the volunteer’s pocket. Even with such dedicated individuals, Gotham City Kitties is always in need of private donations and good public relations!
